Many of my previous posts have been about how I have been seeing the positive light of my anxiety, however, today was a day when my anxiety started to take over. I always rate my anxiety levels to communicate to my husband how I am feeling. I rate it from 1 to 10. I was sitting between a 5 and 7 for the last half of my day. My chest even hurt because it was starting to be so crushing.
I am not 100% sure why I had the sudden boutΒ of anxiety. There was nothing overly upsetting that happened to me. It just hit fast and hard! Luckily, I was able to practice my self talk and remind myself that everything was ok, and that it was only my chemicals that were acting out of order. There was nothing for me to worry about. It felt better to remember that there was no threat, or stress regarding why I was freaking out. Reminding myself that anxiety was just an imbalance and nothing I had done made me feel empowered. It made me feel in control! It was also Β beneficial to remember that healing is a process. The road to recovery does not happen over night. It is a gradual process that will, at times, take a few steps backwards. However, that does not mean that I need to give up. It only means that I work harder to get better.
Remember, you are in control! NOT anxiety!
I’ve been having a similar problem for the last week or so, I seem to be pulling out of it, but it ebbs and flows.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow:)

And don’t forget to focus on your breathing. Distracting yourself from your anxiety is a good way to bring the attack down.
Well done today!

This too will pass my friend. Own it as opposed to it owning you. Eckardt Tolle speaks of this in his CD’s The New Earth

I hate that feeling. I’ve actually gone to the ER twice, in the past, for chest pain and shortness of breath, which ended up being anxiety. In addition to practicing conscious relaxation, I’ll find a way to exercise to help me snap out of it. Even if it’s just a brisk walk around the block, it seems to steady and reset me. I hope you’re feeling better. π

Anxiety isn’t easy to deal with, but it is great you have a supporter in your husband.

Great post! You’re absolutely right; giving up is NOT the answer! Great job on getting through your anxiety with positive self-talk. I know it can be hard to overcome your anxiety when it seems so powerful.

I hope you feel better! I know exactly how this feels and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Your writing is inspirational. Hopefully one day (soon?) I can be as brave and courageous when it comes to putting my foot down with anxiety — just like you have in this simple paragraph!
Take care π
