Puking because of what you see?

This seems to be my problem since I got pregnant. Yesterday I saw someone blow a snot rocket and I have thrown up three time since seeing it. I already have obsessive thoughts due to my anxiety disorder, but they have been under control for awhile now. However, ever since yesterday this moment keeps playing in my mind over and over and it won’t stop. Unfortunately, now that I’m pregnant I throw up all the time. So I am stuck in this never ending cycle of snot rockets and vomit.

Earlier in my pregnancy I threw up because my sink looked really gross and I’m not sure if I am the only one who throws up because of things I see. It is really bizzare. Smells don’t bother me very much but sight does.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or have any advice how to get out of my endless mental cycle today?

Thank you for letting me vent. It has been a rough 24 hours.

  1. I was sick an entire day after I overheard an employee say in the hallway, “I had an egg for breakfast.”

Also, the smell of burning wood made me hurl, so for 2 months I couldn’t even go INTO the basement where the fireplace was, because THE SMELL was still there.

2nd pregnancy, visualizing or thinking about scalloped potatoes did it.

It WILL pass. I promise! And don’t be so hard on yourself; lots of non-pregnant folks will be gagging just reading what you wrote about “that.”

  2. This too shall pass! But it so so hard. I am a non-pregnant gal who hurls at thinking about snot rockets. Ugh!!! I am a teacher and all the other stuff never bothers me but that. So I focus on something else till it passes.

  3. As other commenters say, shifting your focus onto something else should help – maybe having an actual picture in your handbag or pocket that you could look at to help eliminate the vile one? And, yes, it will pass – so easy to say and so irritating to hear, I know! πŸ™‚

  4. Even though I’ve never been pregnant, I’ve been known to have horrible scent aversion during my cycle. Seriously! One time Chad was cooking bacon in the kitchen and the smell was SO strong I just couldn’t handle it. I almost had to go to the back of the house! πŸ˜€ Just remember this is all temporary and will go away with time. Keep drinking ginger tea! ❀

  5. “Snot rocket??” OMG- I have NEVER heard of that..but know EXACTLY what it means! HAHA! The old wive’s tale we used to hear back in the day was that the sicker you are- the healthier baby is.. God bless you- this is important work..trust that your body knows what it’s doing, and yes, this WILL pass.

  6. With my 2nd daughter, I spent most of the first 7 months, having a very intimate relationship with the porcelain throne! Everything and anything made me want to throw up … the smell of coffee (and I love coffee!), cooking meat, raw meat, citrus, milk, petrol fumes … my partner LOL It usually passed, but until it does, you have my deepest and most sincerest sympathies πŸ™‚
