Ready for a great week!

Well, my husband and I are back home from Phoenix and snuggled in our beds, after watching the Super Bowl. I don’t normally watch sports (other than having it on in the back ground), but I have to say it was a great game!

I am starting my week with a positive attitude and I am hoping to make the most of it. I am going to stay focused on the good and move on past the bad. I hope you all have a wonderful week!

ADHD High

It has been a long week and I am relieved, beyond words, that the weekend is finally upon us! It has been an extremely productive week, actually two weeks, and I think a lot of it has to do with my ADHD high. For about two and a half weeks my ADHD has been on overdrive! It has felt like my mind is functioning at warp speed and word vomit ensues. I cannot take full responsibility for any strange thing I have said this week because I had almost zero control over what came out of my mouth! I didn’t do anything mean, but I am sure I had given away far too much information! I am certain it has been entertaining for everyone around me though!

There is no easy way to describe how it feels to have ADHD, but the closest thing I can compare it to is that you are trying to hear a personal conversation with someone while you are standing in the middle of a huge crowd. Even when I am in a silent room, it never feels quiet. It’s kinda weird. It doesn’t bother me, and sometimes it is fun to be so hyper.

I told my husband that I was going to have a crash soon because the ADHD high has been going on for so long. I am not sure if other ADHD-ers experience periods when their symptoms are overstimulated, but it does seem to happen to me every now and then. Yesterday happened to be my crash day, and let me tell you, I was utterly exhausted! I am not sure I have ever been that tired! I barely could drive home from work. After going to bed early last night and waking up a little late for work, I am feeling more rested. I may need one more day of good sleep to be back to normal though!

Gotta love ADHD! 🙂

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself!

Do you ever have times when you feel like you are just a hot mess? I do! I feel like my anxiety takes over and I don’t know what is up from down, and my ADHD kicks into high gear and I have word vomit all day long! Not to mention I am running around, jumping, overly excited, all while being nervous at the same time!? What the heck is that all about?! They seem to contradict each other.

I have realized that everyone has a demon they fight behind closed doors. Everyone struggles with something. So why not laugh about it? Making it seem small and insignificant helps with learning how to cope. Clearly our problems are not just jokes, they are real situations and are very painful. But can’t we take time to step outside ourself and view it in a different light?

Try to view your struggles in a different way. Come at them from a different angle. You may be surprise at what you discover.

You are Created for Something Great!

When you are feeling inadequate, remember that God has created you for a specific purpose. You may not have the skills that the person next to you has, but guess what?! They weren’t created to do what you can do! You are unique and your talents will surprise even yourself!

Don’t forget that YOU are special! YOU are going to do something great!

Do something for yourself!

In honor of this glorious Friday, I challenge you to do something kind for yourself! Many of us spend our days caring for everyone EXCEPT ourselves, so today I give everyone permission to give themselves a little treat! 🙂

A challenge for today

I challenge you today to do something positive for someone else. Take a moment to break outside of your normal routine and do something unexpected for someone. It may just be a small thing, but you never know how badly someone may need a positive uplift! Good luck and have a fantastic day. 🙂

Becoming a parent?!

My husband and I are nearing the point in our lives were we are wanting to truly consider becoming parents, and I don’t mean to our dogs. Real human beings. Or perhaps just a singular being. There are lots of unknown questions and fears we both have in regards to this area because we want to be sure we are ready and prepared when the little fellow arrives. I know parenthood is not something that can be planned for 100%, but since I struggle with anxiety I want to be proactive.

My biggest fear about being a parent is that my anxiety will get in the way of me being able to be a good parent. Logically in my mind I know I will be a good mother, since I “raise” my students well at school. However, the anxious part of my brain tells me that I will be a mess! To fight back my own anxiety, I am going to arm myself with knowledge and support from friends and family. I want to be open about the struggles and the triumphs as my husband and I begin to map out this journey.

I wanted to share this with you because you have all be so supportive of my anxious conquerings and so many of you have given me such wonderful advice! Thank you for helping me win this battle!
