A Moment I Would Never Have that was Followed by Yoga

Tonight, as my husband and I were driving home from a BBQ, the air was warm and sweet. Our car windows were rolled down and we took the long way home so we could saturate ourselves in the beauty of this summer night. As the wind curled through my hair and kissed across my cheeks, my hand rested gently on top of my husband’s. I felt hyper aware of his presence as we sat together sharing in this unspoken moment. I smiled and felt my heart swell with emotions of utter and complete peace. Not a single shred of anxiety crossed my mind or tightened my chest. Surreal really, considering that most days I have at least a tickling of anxiety pressing against my chest. Nothing put contentment and joy resonated within me. It was indescribably beautiful. Never in a million years could I imagine stretching moments to exist without anxious thought. But here I am, an hour later, still without anxiety. God is good!

By the time we got home I was ready to further my peaceful mind and practice some yoga. It felt so good to relax my body and allow it to match the restful and relaxed state of my mind and spirit. Now, I am ready to drift off to sleep and recharge for tomorrow!

For a visual, here is a picture of the end of my yoga practice (in my new pants) with Thor sleeping at my feet!

I love that Thor is always near by 🙂

Yoga with dogs can be difficult

Good morning!

This morning I woke up groggy and annoyed that the radio alarm was blaring in my ear. The last thing I wanted to do was get up and do yoga. I so wanted to continue hitting snooze until the last possible minute I could, however, I pushed onward to continue my yoga practice. I am so glad I did! I missed yesterday so my body was unbelievably tight. As I stretched and warmed up my body for the day, I felt my joints realign and it felt so good!

As I was attempting to get in the zone, my dogs were all crowding around me, pushing and whining for my attention. Whenever I did forward fold or down dog, they would run over and cuddle. Even though it’s a bit difficult to hold the poses with three dogs pining for my attention, I couldn’t imagine a better way to start my day!

Happy Wednesday!

I want to be a crazy yogini!

I started practicing yoga about two months ago and my interest in the practice has bloomed into a full on passion! I love starting my mornings with yoga and ending the days with it as well. I feel so refreshed and relaxed when I am finished. I also have noticed I don’t have as many aches and pains I use to have before I started, which is beyond exciting! I am able to reach hands to my toes with my legs straight, and hold myself up in plank for several minutes! And kinda sorta do a half way handstand-ish thingy. YAY! Now the challenge is to start working up to some crazy poses. But when I see some of the poses I would theoretically like to do, I think, “I don’t think that is possible for a human do that?!” These are some poses I would like to attempt someday in the future!

SO! These are some of the poses that would be INCREDIBLE if I could one day do them! Currently, I have some pesky side rolls that seem to get in the way when I try to bend in certain directions, but I’m working to minimize their interference! I can’t wait to see what my body can actually do with some hard work and dedication!

Can any of you out there do any of these poses? If you can, you are AMAZING 🙂

Good Morning Mountains!

When I woke up this morning to let my furry friends outside, the air was cool and fragrant! The breeze pulled through my hair and the smell of Fall (or really just a cooler summer since it is Arizona) was evident! So, I decided to practice my yoga outside! It was glorious! Plus, I was joined by some little friends!
