Stephan King has pretty much been around my entire life, he started writing before I was even born. However, I always thought his work was purely horror and, already being an anxious person, I didn’t think I could add extra anxiety from a scary book on top of it! However, after finishing the tv series Under the Dome, which is based on his novel of the same name, I decided to give him a try. I am now in LOVE! Last night I was reading Bag of Bones and while I was reading I physically was scared with anticipation! I have never experienced that while reading a book and it was pretty incredible! I think he is incredible because he is able to conjure up these sorts of emotions and even physical responses by just using his words! Genius! I can’t wait to read more!
In my youth I learned to steer clear of horror, movies or books. My subconscious mind at night takes me on journeys of great fright, depending on what I was exposed to within the past 24/48 hrs. He is a great writer no doubt– Red October I enjoyed…

I’ve started reading Fire Starter but didn’t finish. I did see the movie of Fire Starter and Storm of the Century and their great! The Dead Zone series is also really good. I’m not a big fan of Under the Dome though. I suggest you see Storm of the Century, it’s a great movie!

Welcome to the club!! Been a massive fan all my life and if you feel like it, read The Dark Tower series. It’s a massive epic but it’s well worth it!
Wrote the best bits on a blog article a while back:

Stephen King is awesome…
I recommend The Stand, an incredible story of the battle of good over evil. Made me tear up quite a few times. But at ~ 1000 pages, it is a commitment!
Many of his books have recurring themes of good vs evil as well. Absolutely love his work!

Yeah I noticed those themes! I always thought he was just horror

Woo Hoo! Another King convert! I don’t know why but for some reason his books never triggered my anxiety. The only book I had trouble with was Pet Semetary because of all the animals involved. I think my favorites by him are: The Stand, The Shining, his short story Stand By Me, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I also loved his newest book, Revival. I think what pulls readers in are his characters. What’s even more fascinating than whatever horror is happening are their reactions to it.

My absolute literary hero. He is the only author who has me so involved that I feel as though I am there, in the sleepy little towns where his novels take place, watching the characters, almost like I know them. I’m envious of people reading his books for the first time!

I love Stephen King! My dad was a huge fan ( and kinda creepily looks like him) and got me hooked when I was a kid! My favorites are The Shining, Firestarter, Needful Things and 1408. 1408 is one of his short stories and scared the living heck out of me!

I am a great Stephen King fan and I’ve read all his books. I’m usually not very impressed with the movies or series based on the books, maybe because I prefer to read and use my own imagination! Now that I’ve read most of them, I’m downloading the audio books and Stephen King goes to bed with me (on my iPod) every night – I don’t sleep very well and listen to stories and music when I can’t sleep.
